Season 1: Episode 11: Reframing Unhelpful Thoughts

In this week’s episode, Kayla shares the 3-step strategy to reframe your unhelpful or irrational thoughts that may be getting in the way of job interviews, performances, dating, sports, test taking, or any other area of life. It’s time to challenge and change the thoughts that are no longer serving you so that you can MASTER YOUR MINDSET! Check out the 3-step process below to guide your reframing journey.

3 step thought reframing process:

1) Identify negative automatic thoughts.

2) Challenge the validity of the thoughts.

     A) Fact or feeling - is this thought a fact backed by hard evidence, or is this based on a

temporary feeling or emotion rather than logic?

     B) Put your thoughts on trial.

          i) What is the evidence that supports this thought?

ii) What is the evidence against the thought?

ii) What is the final verdict?

3) Decatastrophizing

     A) What are you worried about?

     B) How likely is it that your worry will come true? Do you have examples of past experiences or

         other evidence that supports this?

     C) If your worry does come true, what is the WORST that could happen? Is that likely to happen?

Probably not, so what is most likely to happen? Usually reality lies somewhere between the               best and worst case scenario that we can imagine

     D) If your worry comes true, what are the chances you will be okay in one week, one month, and

          one year?

     E) Change the way you view situations, experiences, events, ideas, or emotions.

Season 1: Episode 2: Mindfulness & Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Did you know a mindfulness practice could transform your life and your brain? In this episode, we define mindfulness, present the benefits of mindfulness, explain different types of mindfulness (there are a lot–one or more of which may be perfect for you!), and even do a progressive muscle relaxation meditation!

But what is mindfulness? Mindfulness is the awareness that comes from intentionally paying attention in the present moment, in a nonjudgmental way. There are numerous benefits of mindfulness. If you’re struggling with sleep, emotional reactivity, high unmanaged stress, or anxiety/uncertainty, a mindfulness practice may transform your life by helping you manage these struggles and bring you peace and relaxation.

If you are interested in starting a mindfulness practice using a free mindfulness app, I recommend Insight Timer, HeadSpace, Calm, or Aura. There are also free mindfulness meditation scripts online at
