Part of my healing meant focusing on getting stronger. When you are healing it is important to understand that you will not be on the same level that you were prior to your injury and that's okay!

Hello Operation Flourish Fam!

It’s been a while… and that space was intentional.

Over the past year and a half, I found myself in a season I didn’t plan for; one that required me to slow down in ways I never had before. After tearing my ACL in June 2024 and facing a second surgery in early 2025, I was forced to confront something I had been avoiding for a long time: I cannot pour into others if I am running on empty.

For years, I wore “busy” like a badge of honor. Saying yes to every opportunity, every event, every responsibility felt like the right thing to do. After all, wasn’t I building something meaningful? Wasn’t I helping others?

But here’s the truth I had to learn the hard way: saying yes to everything often means saying no to yourself.

Healing, real, deep, holistic healing requires space. It requires patience. And most importantly, it requires permission.

Permission to rest.

Permission to say, “not right now.”

Permission to choose you.

Through this journey, I leaned into the five pillars of #ChooseHealth in a completely new way:

Joyful Movement became less about performance and more about progress. Some days, movement looked like physical therapy exercises. Other days, it was simply taking a walk and appreciating what my body could do.

Balanced Nutrition became fuel for recovery, not restriction, but nourishment.

Restorative Sleep shifted from optional to essential. Healing happens when we rest, not when we push harder.

Mindful Mental Health became my anchor. I had to process frustration, setbacks, and the emotional toll of slowing down.

Avoiding Risk Behaviors meant recognizing when I was overextending myself and choosing boundaries instead.

What I realized is this: flourishing isn’t about constant motion. It’s about intentional living.

We live in a world that glorifies hustle and productivity, but your worth is not measured by how much you can fit into a day. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is be fully present in the moment you’re in, whether that’s recovery, growth, or even stillness.

As I prepare to step back into this next season with the Miss Indiana competition ahead, I’m doing so with a renewed mindset. One that prioritizes sustainability over speed. Presence over pressure. Purpose over perfection.

If you’re walking through a season of healing, whether physical, mental, or emotional, I want you to know this:

You are not falling behind.

You are not losing momentum.

You are rebuilding your foundation.

And that is something worth honoring.

Cheerfully yours,

Kayla Myers

P.S. Today, I challenge you to check in with yourself.

What is one thing you can say no to this week so you can say yes to your healing?
