Level up your goals with the SMARTER method!

Hey Operation Flourish Fam!

Let's talk about goals! We all have them – that dream vacation, the promotion you've been eyeing, or maybe finally mastering handstands (because #yogaeverydamnday, right?). But sometimes, those big goals can feel...well, overwhelming.

That's where micro goals come in! They're the secret weapon for turning ambitious dreams into achievable realities.

Before we dive into micro goals, let's revisit our SMARTER friend!

A SMARTER goal is:

  • Specific: Clearly defined and outlines exactly what you want to achieve.

  • Measurable: You can track your progress and know when you've reached your goal.

  • Attainable: It's challenging but achievable with the right effort.

  • Relevant: Aligns with your overall goals and values.

  • Time-bound: Has a specific deadline for completion.

  • Evaluated: Regularly assess your progress and adapt your plan if needed.

  • Revised: Be flexible and willing to adjust your goals based on your evaluation.

Now, how do micro goals fit into this?

Micro goals are small, actionable steps that help you achieve your larger SMARTER goal. They break down that seemingly insurmountable mountain into bite-sized chunks, making it feel less daunting and more manageable. ️

Here's how to incorporate micro goals into your SMARTER goal:

1. Break it Down: Take your SMARTER goal and divide it into smaller, achievable tasks. For example, if your goal is to run a marathon in 6 months, your micro goals might be:

  • Week 1: Run 2 miles, 3 times a week.

  • Week 4: Increase distance to 3 miles, 3 times a week.

  • Week 8: Add interval training to your routine.

2. Make it Measurable: Track your micro goals just like your big goal. Did you run 2 miles three times this week? Boom! Check that micro goal off the list!

3. Celebrate the Small Wins: Reaching those mini-milestones is a HUGE deal! Celebrate your progress, no matter how small. It keeps you motivated and reinforces positive goal-crushing behavior.

Remember, consistency is key! Micro goals are most effective when done consistently. Set aside dedicated time each day or week to work on your micro goals, and watch your progress soar!

Cheerfully yours,

Kayla Myers
