More good days begin with the small choices we make every day. 💚 This Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s remind one another that healing, hope, and flourishing happen together. Whether it’s reaching out for support, prioritizing rest, moving your body joyfully, or simply checking in on a friend: every step matters!
More good days begin with the small choices we make every day. 💚 This Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s remind one another that healing, hope, and flourishing happen together. Hello Operation Flourish Fam!

May marks the 77th Annual Mental Health Awareness Month, and this year’s theme, “More Good Days, Together,” could not be more timely or meaningful. In a world that often glorifies being busy, productive, and constantly “okay,” this theme reminds us of something deeply important: healing, hope, and flourishing are not meant to happen alone.

Sometimes we think mental health is only about surviving the hard days. But mental health is also about learning how to create more good days; days where we feel connected, rested, supported, joyful, purposeful, and seen.

And the beautiful thing is, we do not have to get there by ourselves.

Over the past 9 years competing in the Miss America Scholarship Program and building Operation Flourish, I have had the opportunity to meet individuals from all walks of life who are carrying invisible battles. Anxiety. Burnout. Loneliness. Trauma. Pressure. Fear of failure. The truth is, mental health affects every single one of us in some way, whether personally or through someone we love.

That is why the #ChooseHealth movement matters so deeply to me.

At Operation Flourish, we focus on five pillars that help us cultivate healthier minds, healthier bodies, and healthier lives:

Joyful Movement

Balanced Nutrition

Restorative Sleep

Mindful Mental Health

Avoiding Risk Behaviors

These pillars are not about perfection. They are about progress. They are about creating sustainable habits that help us experience more positive emotions, deeper relationships, greater meaning, stronger engagement, and a sense of accomplishment, even in seasons that feel difficult.

Because sometimes “choosing health” looks like:

Going for a walk instead of staying stuck in stress.

Asking for help instead of suffering in silence.

Setting boundaries without guilt.

Resting without needing to “earn” it.

Eating nourishing meals even when life feels chaotic.

Reaching out to a friend just to say, “I’m thinking about you.”

Giving yourself grace on the hard days.

Mental health awareness is not just about recognizing pain. It is about building environments where people can truly flourish.

The “More Good Days, Together” theme is such a powerful reminder that community matters. Support matters. Connection matters. We heal better when we heal together.

If someone in your life is struggling, remind them they are not a burden. Remind them they are worthy of support. Remind them that difficult seasons do not define their future.

And if you are struggling, I hope you know this:

You do not have to have everything figured out to take one healthy step forward today.

One small choice can become a turning point.

One conversation can open the door to healing.

One good day can become the beginning of many more.

So, this Mental Health Awareness Month, let us commit to creating more good days; not only for ourselves, but for the people around us. Let us continue building communities rooted in compassion, encouragement, and hope.

Together, we can flourish!

Cheerfully yours,

Kayla Myers

P.S. This month, challenge yourself to create one more good day for yourself or someone else. Send the text. Take the walk. Schedule the appointment. Start the conversation. Small steps matter more than you know! 💛
