Hello Operation Flourish Fam!

August is more than just the back-to-school season and the last hoorah of summer—it's also National Wellness Month! 🎉

Established to encourage people to prioritize their well-being, National Wellness Month was created to focus on self-care, stress management, and healthy routines, all of which are foundational to a flourishing life. As someone who has spent the last 8 years immersed in the Miss America Scholarship Program and now proudly serves as Miss Northeast 2026, I can confidently say: wellness isn't a luxury; it's a lifestyle.

So, let’s dive into what it means to truly flourish this Wellness Month:

🌞 Physical Wellness

Your body is your home—treat it with care.

Try this: Go for a 20-minute walk in nature, try a new workout class, or simply stretch when you wake up.

Movement doesn’t need to be intense to be joyful!

🧠 Mental & Emotional Wellness

Self-awareness is the gateway to long-term well-being. Understanding your thoughts and feelings allows you to manage stress and navigate life with resilience.

Try this: Practice daily mindfulness, gratitude journaling, or guided meditation. Just 5 minutes of breathing can re-center your entire day.

🥗 Nutritional Wellness

Food is fuel, but it’s also a way to nourish joy.

Try this: Make a colorful plate at your next meal.

Aim for balance: lean proteins, fruits, veggies, whole grains, and healthy fats.

And don't forget to hydrate!

💬 Social Wellness

We are wired for connection. Investing in relationships builds a strong support system, improves mood, and even boosts immunity.

Try this: Call a friend, write a kind note, or schedule a coffee date.

Never underestimate the power of genuine connection.

🎨 Joyful Living

Don’t just survive—thrive. Pursue hobbies, passions, and activities that light you up.

Try this: Revisit a hobby you loved as a child, explore a new creative outlet, or spend an hour doing something just for fun—no guilt attached.

Wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s about building self-awareness and intentionally creating habits that support your unique journey. This National Wellness Month, let’s take a moment to reflect, reset, and realign with what helps us flourish. When we #ChooseHealth in all its dimensions, we don’t just exist—we thrive.

Cheerfully yours,

Kayla Myers
